Unlike our bathymetry-driven pieces, this collection emphasizes landform relief—making it ideal for mountainous regions, high plains, and areas with meaningful elevation change (typically 600 feet or more).
 
Each map is precision laser-cut into four distinct layers of terrain, carefully stacked to reveal ridgelines, valleys, plateaus, and peaks. A single, subtle water layer is included where applicable to represent lakes and rivers without overpowering the land. The result is a composition that reads quickly, yet rewards closer inspection.
 
To bring the terrain to life, every piece is hand-painted using controlled gradient techniques, transitioning naturally from lower elevations to higher ground. These gradients are applied deliberately to reinforce depth, elevation, and geographic clarity—while preserving the warmth and authenticity of real wood.
 
Available Topographical Color Themes
Each theme is inspired by real regional landscapes and curated to remain timeless rather than trendy:
Eastern US – Autumn
Warm earth tones layered with deep reds and golden browns, echoing hardwood forests and rolling hills in peak fall color.
Eastern US – Summer
Lush, balanced greens with soft natural highlights, reflecting fertile terrain and dense summer growth.
Western US – Summer

Studio Series Topographical maps are constructed from premium 1/8" basswood, chosen for its clean edge detail, dimensional stability, and refined visual lightness. This thinner profile allows the terrain to remain elegant and balanced, making the Studio Series ideal for spaces where subtle depth and clarity are preferred.
